2 tried to use fake credit cards at Lynbrook store, cops say

They tried to make a purchase using fraudulent credit cards at a pet supply store in Lynbrook on Wednesday, police said.

The transaction was declined.

But, Nassau County police said, that didn’t deter Mamadou Ndiaye, 21, and Ajani Jones, 18, both of Brooklyn.

aye and Jones returned to the Shake A Paw store on Atlantic Avenue and tried to use other fake credit cards to make purchases. This time, store personnel contacted Lynbrook Village police, who arrived to find the couple in a car nearby — and arrested them on assorted charges.

Police said the arrests were made during a traffic stop near the intersection of Merrick Road and Earle Avenue at 3:45 p.m. During the investigation, police said, officers found Ndiaye, of Lafayette Avenue, in possession of a forged credit card and a forged Florida driver’s license, and found Jones, of St. Felix Street, in possession of five forged credit cards and checks.

Ndiaye was charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree grand larceny. Jones was charged with six counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree grand larceny.

Both are scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
